How does the beginning to this novel sound?

It's a long story to describe, but if you could give me tips, I'd be happy to hear them (:

I was lying there, in the most beautiful white, woven gown I'd ever laid my eyes on. He'd even taken the time to sew in the details. He had added a lace to the bib, the cuffs, and to the bottom of it. When I stood, it would tickle the top of my highly arched feet. He took my hands, and he painted my nails a soft pink. Then he gently laid them across my chest, just high enough to touch the tip of my custom bib. I was only nineteen. I wasn't old enough to pass away. I couldn't argue, he'd prepared me so carefully, so gently, so beautifully. He'd applied light, yet natural toned makeup to my eyes and cheeks. He cared for me like a baby. But in reality, I was a baby.

I was comforted by the sound of Frédéric Chopin's "Marche Funèbre." It had become, over time, somewhat like a lullaby. I'd never learned to play this piece on my own. But with the guidance of the mortician, my fingers could fly over the keys like a sparrow, leaving nothing but the deepest, the most moving, and the quietest of tones in its path. The mortician had taught me to appreciate the sound of Chopin's piece. He'd explained that the deep tones were tones of rejoice, tones of passion, resembling the deep sighs let out during rigor mortis. I was fascinated, he'd taught me so very much. I was appreciative of his efforts.

He carefully slid the glass slippers on my feet. They weren't all that comfortable, but I could do. I couldn't be rid the thoughts of never seeing him again. A small tear emerged from my left eve, and rolled vertically down my cheek. He comforted me with the sound of his voice. He had the deepest, and softest voice a man could have. I was unsure if he was a man at all. He was a man of two genders. He had long, callused hands. But he had the most gentle touch I'd ever felt. He was like touching an angel. The words, "I'll be seeing you" rolled off his tongue smoothly. He lifted his large hand, and he wiped the tear away from my eye, begging me, "There, there, sweet child." Then he grabbed a large brush and spread a light powder over my face, my neck, and even my hands.

He then, took a rose, of one color I'd became fond of, black, and slipped it into my pale, motionless palm. He told me I had taken the easy way out, and that one day he'd follow me down the path of death also. He was older than me, at least sixty. His hair was a sort of blondish gray. His skin was pale, and you could see every vein in his body. He was tall and gaunt, he always wore a suit, and a tall top hat. He was aged, but still a very handsome man.

It was great, but, how can he have a 'deep, soft' voice? I suggest saying ' he had the deepest, yet softest voice a man could have'. Other than that one problem, it was great. I really want to read more. Hope I helped!
